Stems hairy to canescent, sometimes sparsely glandular. Leaves: mid blades 6–20 mm wide, margins usually serrate or serrulate, faces puberulent or canescent, sometimes sparsely stipitate-glandular. Involucres hemispheric, 8–15 mm. Phyllary apices long-acuminate, 3–6 mm, faces puberulent or canescent, sparsely stipitate-glandular. 2n = 8.


Phenology: Flowering Jul–Oct.
Habitat: Grasslands, creosote bush scrublands, pine/oak woodlands, often along streams
Elevation: 300–2400 m
