Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jul.
Habitat: Sandy or gravelly slopes, washes, sagebrush shrublands, chaparral, oak woodlands.
Elevation: 100–1800 m.
Distribution
Calif., Nev., Mexico (Baja California).
Discussion
In California, var. spectabilis is known from the Peninsular and Transverse ranges in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties; its range extends into northern Baja California, Mexico.
