Shrubs or trees, 1–6 m. Buds alba-type. Leaves: stipules on late ones rudimentary or foliaceous; largest medial blade (hypostomatous to amphistomatous), 3–6.5 times as long as wide, adaxial surface not glaucous. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous. Pistillate flowers: adaxial nectary equal to or longer than stipe; stipe 0.6–0.9 mm; ovary very densely short-silky; stigmas slenderly to broadly cylindrical, 0.16–0.29–0.44 mm.

Distribution

North America, Eurasia.
