Perennials, eglandular; rhizomatous. Stems usually simple, sometimes ± branched. Heads radiate. Ray florets fewer than disc florets, in 1 series (conspicuous). Disc corollas ± ampliate, lobes erect. Pappi shorter than to equaling disc florets at flowering. x = 8.
