Style swollen distally; stigma lobes erect, not grooved. Capsules: apex rounded, truncate, or short-apiculate. 2n = 48.


Phenology: Flowering spring.
Habitat: Usually deciduous wet-mesic to dry-mesic woods of bottomlands and uplands, slopes of ravines, lower ledges of bluffs, often near waterways, often in loamy soils
Elevation: 0–900 m
