Thyrses continuous. Flowers: corolla 14–22 mm, limb blue to lavender; pollen sacs 0.9–1.5 mm. 2n = 16.


Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Rocky sites in pine-juniper and aspen-pine woodlands, shrublands.
Elevation: 1800–3100 m.

Discussion

Variety leonardii has been documented in Bear Lake County, Idaho, and Cache, Davis, Juab, Millard, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Sanpete, Summit, Utah, Wasatch, and Weber counties, Utah.
