Inflorescences: spikes densely palmate, each short-stipitate to subsessile, without elongate, slender, sterile bracteate base, fertile part rarely over 10 cm. Floral bracts to 3 cm.
Phenology: Flowering spring–summer.
Habitat: Epiphytic on a variety of hosts, usually in bright light
Elevation: 0–30 m
Distribution
Fla., Mexico, West Indies, Central America.
Discussion
This is the most common variety in central and southern Florida. It is quite variable in size and coloration.
Tillandsia fasciculata var. floridana L. B. Smith is apparently of hybrid origin and is treated above as T. × floridana.
