Shrubs or trees; rhizomes absent. Branches and leaves opposite. Inflorescences umbels; bracts 4, well developed, not petaloid, subtending inflorescence and enclosing it over winter. Pedicels present. Drupes distinct; stone apex pointed to slightly rounded.

Distribution

Calif., Eurasia.
