Discussion
Variety barnesii seems to be relatively rare and endemic, probably deserving the status of species, though a preliminary molecular analysis did not find it outside the variation in small-sized plants (M. S. Ignatov et al. 2008). The separation of var. barnesii from the large expressions of var. pulchellum needs additional attention.
