Stems sparsely tomentulose or glabrous. Leaves mostly cauline (distal connate-perfoliate); blades rounded-deltate to ovate, 8–12 × 4–9 cm, coarsely toothed. Ray florets 12–13; laminae 8–18 mm. Cypselae ± quadrate, 4–6 mm; pappi of 16–30, obovate to spatulate scales 0.5–2 mm. 2n = 34.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–summer.
Habitat: Deep sandy soils with scrub oaks
Elevation: 10–100 m
