Stems sericeous proximally, glabrous or glabrate distally, stipitate-glandular throughout. Leaves: proximal cauline faces sericeous; mid to distal margins stipitate-glandular, faces usually glabrate. 2n = 18.
Phenology: Flowering Aug–Oct (sometimes spring).
Habitat: Open, sandy soils
Elevation: 20–60 m
Discussion
Variety aspera grows in a limited area of northern Florida and extreme southern Gerogia.
