Winter buds ovoid to conic, usually shiny, occasionally glaucous, mostly glutinous, glabrous or hairy, hairs whitish or rufous. Leaflets not papillose abaxially nor glaucous adaxially. Flowers: perianth and androecium semiepigynous. Pomes red to orange; sepals persistent; carpels distinct in distal 1/2, apex flat or convex.

Distribution

North America, e Asia (Japan, Russian Far East [Kuril Islands, Sakhalin], Taiwan).

Discussion

Species 6 (4 in the flora).
