|discussion=<p><i>Paspalidium</i> is a genus of approximately 40 species, one of which is native to the Flora region. It grows in tropical regions throughout the world. Most of its species have an inflorescence of well-spaced, unilateral, spicate branches and the resemblance to <i>Paspalum</i> is evident, but species with closely crowded, highly reduced branches are easily mistaken for species of <i>Setaria</i>, the terminal bristle resembling a single, subtending bristle.</p>
