|discussion=<p><i>Pylaisiadelpha tenuirostris</i> is superficially similar to some specimens of <i>Hypnum pallescens</i> (Hypnaceae), a commonly sporophyte-bearing species with conic opercula and leaves lacking enlarged alar cells. Plants with sporophytes are rare. The rostrate opercula and conspicuous pigmented enlarged alar cells are distinctive.</p>
