|discussion=<p><i>Sematophyllum demissum</i> resembles <i>Hageniella micans</i> in many respects, but <i>H. micans</i> is distinguished by its strong double costa and toothed acumen. Also, exothecial cells of <i>Sematophyllum</i> are collenchymatous; those of <i>Hageniella</i> are not.</p>
