|discussion=<p><i>Xyris ambigua</i> is one of the more widespread and weedy of xyrids, frequently invading disturbed moist, sandy areas. It is also one of the most variable in habit and apparently forms intermediates with <i>X. stricta</i> and <i>X. torta</i>.</p>
