A third taxon tentatively accorded varietal rank--- <i>Taxodium distichum</i> (Linnaeus) Richard <i></i>var.<i> mexicanum</i> Gordon (= <i>Taxodium</i> mucronatum Tenore)—and recognized by some authors as occurring within our range, appears to differ only in minor phenological characters.
