Variation may also have resulted from multiple allotetraploid origins. Typical plants of <i>I. tuckermanii</i> have thin, soft leaves. More northern plants, referred to as <i>I. tuckermanii</i> <i></i></i>var.<i><i> borealis</i> A. A. Eaton, have thick, stiff leaves.</p><!--
