|discussion=<p><i>Amphidium mougeotii</i> has linear, entire leaves and small laminal cells (5–9 µm). The cuticular papillae are numerous and elliptic, and only slightly obscure the distal cells, whereas in <i>A. lapponicum</i> they are larger, warty, and more noticeable.</p>
