Plants ± erect, 3–15(–18+) cm. Leaf lobes narrowly lanceolate to linear, 8–20+ × 1–2(–5) mm, faces sparsely scabrellous and gland-dotted. Involucres ± turbinate or obconic to hemispheric, 5–6+ × 4–6+ mm. Ray florets 3–8; corollas pale yellow (sometimes ochroleucous), laminae 2–5 mm. Disc florets 20–35+; corollas 3–3.5 mm. Cypselae 3–4 mm, seldom gland-dotted, usually hirsutulous (at least at bases); pappus scales usually lanceolate to linear-subulate, 0.8–1.2(–2) mm. 2n = 24.

Habitat: Roadsides, etc., on sandy, silty, or loamy soils of grasslands, plains, or prairies
Elevation: 1000–1700 m
