Plants annual [perennial]. Leaf blades usually farinose. Inflorescences dense axillary glomerules or loose cymes. Flowers: perianth segments (4–)5; stamens usually 5. Seeds all horizontal (rarely some vertical in C. urbicum).

Discussion
