Stems 3.2–4.5(–8) cm diam, ribs (6–)7–9(–10);, areoles (9–)14–25(–36) mm apart. Spines: radial spines 8–10(–13) per areole, 9.5–19(–33) mm, central spines 1–4 per areole, (12–)20–44(–50) mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jul; fruiting Jul–Sep.
Habitat: Tamaulipan thorn scrub, oak savannas, limestone bluffs, well-drained alluvium
Elevation: 0-1000 m
