Plants 1–3(–3.5) × 1–2.5 dm. Leaf blades elliptic to obovate or spatulate, 1–3.5 × 0.2–1(–2.5) cm. Perianths 6–7(–8) mm; tepals fimbriate apically with distal segments linear to lanceolate, distinctly broader than lateral segments. 2n = 40, 44.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–Jul.
Habitat: Sandy to gravelly or rocky places, mixed grassland and chaparral communities, pine-oak woodlands
Elevation: 30-1700 m
Distribution
Calif., Mexico (Baja California).
Discussion
Variety fimbriata is found from eastern Orange and western Riverside counties southward through San Diego County into Baja California.
