Stems usually erect-ascending, sometimes decumbent, 3–15(–25) dm; twigs glabrous. Leaf blades usually oblanceolate, sometimes elliptic or obovate, 3.1–5.8(–7) × 0.8–1.9(–2.3) cm, lengths ca. 3.3 times widths, base cuneate to attenuate, apex usually acute or short-acuminate, sometimes obtuse. Drupes subglobose, 8–12 × 5–10 mm; stones subglobose to ovoid, 8–9.5 × 6–7 mm.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jun; fruiting Aug–Sep.
Habitat: Shores of the Great Lakes on sandy, gravelly, or rocky beaches, dunes, interdunal flats
Elevation: 70–200 m
