Leaf blades elliptic to narrowly ovate, base usually attenuate, rarely ± truncate, surfaces glabrous, rarely pubescent. Cleistogamous flowers absent.
Phenology: Flowering Mar–May.
Habitat: Perennially wet places, marshes, bogs
Elevation: 100–500 m
Discussion
Variety occidentalis is found in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon, often with Darlingtonia californica (V. B. Baird 1942; R. J. Little 1993, 2012).
