Leaves: blades 35–110 × 7.4–27.1 mm, widest intersinus distance 2.3–15.3 mm; proximal with margins dentate, teeth 12–20, perpendicular to leaf axis, 2.3–9 × 4–5 mm; distal with margins serrate to pinnate, teeth or lobes 10–14, slightly antrorse, 2.9–7.5 × 3.7–4.8 mm. Bracts: margins entire or pinnate. Flowers: petals 11.3–16.3 × 3.1–5.1 mm; 5 outermost stamens without anthers. Seeds 2.9–3.2 mm; seed coat anticlinal cell walls straight, papillae 4–6 per cell.
Phenology: Flowering Aug–Nov.
Habitat: Roadsides, sand dunes, dry clayey or sandy soils.
Elevation: 500–1600 m.
Distribution
N.Mex., Tex., Mexico (Chihuahua, Coahuila).
