Plants 24–102 cm. Stems erect, hairy. Leaves basal and proximal-most cauline withering by flowering; cauline sessile; blades broadly lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 10–100 × 3–20 mm, margins entire, apices acuminate to acute, faces hairy. Heads 2–4 per branch, in corymbiform arrays. Peduncle bracts broadly lanceolate to narrowly ovate, hairy. Involucres 5–7 mm at flowering.
