Annuals. Leaves mostly basal, seldom cauline; alternate; blades simple or (1–)2–3-pinnately lobed. Calyculi of 5–8 bractlets. Phyllaries (5–)8(–12). Paleae ± linear. Ray florets (3–)8, usually pistillate and fertile, sometimes styliferous and sterile; laminae yellow, ± obovate to flabellate, each broadest distal to middle, apices entire or 2–3-toothed. Disc florets (12–)20–60(–100+); corollas yellow, lobes 5; style-branch apices ± truncate or deltoid. Ray cypselae ± rounded-quadrate to oblong, wings chartaceous to membranous, entire, spreading (or margins thin, winglike), not ciliolate, faces usually ± tuberculate, sometimes smooth; pappi 0. Disc cypselae spatulate to oblong, wings chartaceous to membranous, entire, spreading (or margins thin, winglike), ciliolate, faces usually ± tuberculate, sometimes smooth; pappi of 2 lanceolate to subulate scales 1–4(–5+) mm. x = 12.
