Plants ca. 40 cm. Stems proximally piloso-hirsute (hairs 1–4+ mm) and stellate-pubescent, distally piloso-hirsute and/or stellate-pubescent. Leaves: basal 4–6, cauline (1–)3–4+; blades elliptic to obovate, 35–80(–120) × 15–30(–40+) mm, lengths 2–4+ times widths, bases cuneate to rounded (sometimes ± clasping), margins entire or denticulate, apices rounded to obtuse, abaxial faces piloso-hirsute (hairs 1.5–4 mm), sometimes stellate-pubescent as well, adaxial piloso-hirsute. Heads (12–)20–50+ in open, corymbiform arrays (lengths of arrays ± 2 times diams.). Peduncles stellate-pubescent and stipitate-glandular. Calyculi: bractlets 5–12+. Involucres campanulate, 8–11 mm. Phyllaries 9–13+, apices acute to acuminate, abaxial faces stellate-pubescent and stipitate-glandular. Florets 20–50+; corollas yellow, 10–12+ mm. Cypselae urceolate, 3.5–4+ mm; pappi of 32–40+, white to stramineous bristles in 1–2+ series, 5–6.5 mm.

Habitat: Limestone hammocks, pine woods, sands
Elevation: 0–10+ m
