Leaflet blades: abaxial surface sparsely pubescent or glabrate, macrotrichomes inconspicuous (0.3–1 mm), scattered and confined to major veins, adaxial surface glabrate, trichomes scattered, inconspicuous, microuncinate, macrotrichomes absent. Calyces glabrate, macrotrichomes sparse, scattered. 2n = 16.
Phenology: Flowering (chasmogamous) May–Jul(–Sep), (cleistogamous) mid Jul–Nov; fruiting (chasmogamous) (May–)Jun–Nov, (cleistogamous) mid Jul–Nov.
Habitat: Dry sandy soils, gravelly or rocky soils, open areas of pine, pine-oak, oak-hickory associations, bluff outcrops.
Elevation: 0–1900 m.
