Chamaecrista lineata
Pittonia 4: 31. 1899.
Three of the six varieties of Chamaecrista lineata have a narrow geographic distribution: var. keyensis is known only from the Florida Keys; var. pinoi (Britton & Rose) H. S. Irwin & Barneby is known exclusively in southern Mexico (Chiapas and Oaxaca); and var. brevipila (Urban) H. S. Irwin & Barneby is endemic to southeastern Cuba. The remaining three varieties, var. brachyloba (Grisebach) H. S. Irwin & Barneby, var. jamaicensis (Britton) H. S. Irwin & Barneby, and var. lineata, are more widespread in the West Indies and Colombia (H. S. Irwin and R. C. Barneby 1982). In contrast to var. keyensis, vars. brachyloba and jamaicensis possess a stipitate extrafloral nectary with the stalk at least as long as the diameter of the nectary head, and vars. brevipila, lineata, and pinoi are fruticose.
